The Perfect Home Gym

7 Mar

Hey there fellow bloggers how is everyone doing? How are we doing with our New Years Resolutions? One of mine was to workout and eat more healthy, yeah I know its a common one, but its a good resolution! How many of you have the same resolution? I have done pretty good at working out, I am almost to my first goal weight which is a huge accomplishment. I do workouts at home, but I also drive to a gym a few times a week. I love and prefer working in a gym environment, it gets me more pumped and psyched to sweat. The down side to this is that my gym is almost 50 miles away. So I have to prepare 3 hours of my day to go to the gym.
So I’ve been brainstorming with my husband, we are trying to come up with ways, and money to create our own authentic gym. We have a roomy space in our basement that we can designate for our own gym. I love the idea of having the gym equipment I love using just one room away, rather then 50 miles! I also enjoy the idea of being able to share it with like minded people. So I’ve been ‘pinteresting’ home gym ideas galore.
My favorite workouts are more with free weights and boxes. I don’t use much huge equipment, although I enjoy the leg press machine, but there are other ways to target those same muscles without the bulky equipment.
I have a good amount of space to work with in my basement. My must haves are a treadmill, punching bag, rack of barbells ranging from 10lbs-100lbs, a weight bench with the weight plates, an incline bench, a TRX Home Gym, a set of jumping boxes, and a bunch of kettle balls. That is what I can remember right of the top of my head. What would you add? I need all the ideas and input I can get, I want my gym to be as professional and productive as possible.
Now you see what I want to have in my gym now lets talk about the look, I’m going to school to become a designer/decorator, so this project will look incredible in my portfolio.
I found some incredible rubber flooring I plan on using, here is a link to it so you can see how cool it is. I want to do bright grays, reds, and greens for my walls and accents, along with bright chrome for my trim.
Here are a few color schemes I have come across:

I love all of these color combinations, they make me feel calm yet invigorated! I wanna walk into my basement gym and feel instantly pumped to workout. I think these colors would do just that for me.
Along with a great color scheme I will also be putting up wall decals with inspiration such as these:

I love them all! They are daily reminders to just keep pushing forward. Also, I love the barbell set in the bottom left hand photo. Its perfect.

What did you guys think? Are you contemplating a home gym, have you already done it? What are some tips for a home gym beginner like myself? This is something I am very passionate about, as you may have guessed, so I’ll be blogging more about it. I’ll share my progress with you all as well.
Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Play Room Ideas

11 Jan

Good morning fellow bloggers. I hope everyone is kicking 2017 off with great goals; we all have so much potential to accomplish great things this year. My husband and I  are slowing remodeling and fixing up the family home. There is a lot to be done, and 2017 is going to be our year! We have gotten 3 of the 15 rooms in the house done. Slow but sure….it’s going to get finished.
Right now I’m focusing on the playroom area that is at the top of the stairs. It is under the eaves. Because of this unique location I want to take advantage of all the space I possibly can. With that in mind I have gone ‘Pinteresting’.
Pinterest is this interior decorators’ best friend! I have found some of my best ideas there. Take a look at what Ive got in mind for my toy area so far.

So that’s what I’ve pinned so far. I want to implement storage cubicles along one wall and shelves and drawers along the other. What so you think? I love the storage cupboard shown in the top right corner, and it will work perfect in one corner of the playroom. I also love the bottom last two cubby ideas, it makes so you can make a fun comfy setting area too. The bottom left hand toy chest is a cute idea as well, I’m just not sure if it will work with the other ideas I’m trying to implement.
I will take pictures of the area I’m working with soon. That way you will be able to get a visual on my ideas.
Thanks for reading and taking a look, give me you feedback so I can make the best playroom ever! Its a small space and I want to take the advantage of the space in the best way possible.
Please post your feedback in the comment section below.

Country Lodge Entertainment Center

1 Jun

A happy good morning to everybody… from sunny Arizona! How is your week getting along, I hope everyone had a fabulous four day weekend.
Today I’ve been contemplating ways to set up my TV in our odd shaped living room. It is very long and skinny with a fire place taking up a huge portion of one of the long walls. This is the general shape of the room.

So that is the shape of my living room, odd right? This makes it very tricky to arrange the essential furniture in it. We will be doing a little remodeling on it eventually. When we are done and have the final product it will be a cozy lodge themed living room with fluffy leather couches and a hard wood floor with large area rugs.
Right now I’m trying to figure out how and where to put a nice entertainment center. The entertainment center may possibly double as a bookshelf too.
Here are some general ideas on how to so it, take a look:

So, what style do you like best? What would you do to change it to fit into this living room? I really like the style that you move the sliding doors to cover the TV or the shelves, that is a really neat idea. I also love the one with the chicken coop wire over the doors as you see in the top picture.
They are all so nice and functional. What style would you pick? Let me know in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Victorian Style Headboards

27 May

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend planned. I’m going hiking and enjoying the mountains around my home. After the fun filled weekend I’ll enjoy my cozy warm bed.
At the moment my gorgeous Cali king sized bed doesn’t have a headboard, sad I know, but after I get my bedroom remodeled and designed I’d love to get a beautiful Victorian headboard. I’ve come across so many fantastic colors and styles, but check out these ones I absolutely adore.

Take a look at those! Aren’t they stunning? There are so many styles and colors to choose from. As I posted in a previous post my bedroom is going to be browns, greens and purples, they vary in many shades, but those are the main colors. Choices! Choices!
What one do you think is the most beautiful? Let me know in the comments section below.
Thanks for reading, have a fabulous fun filled weekend!

Master Bathroom Ideas

16 May

Happy Monday morning fellow bloggers! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful month of May.
Lately I have been brainstorming ideas for my Master Bathroom. We are going for warm colors and a western/country theme. Right now I am looking for unique sink ideas.

Here is what I have come up with so far:

They are all so pretty aren’t they?! As you can see I want quite a bit of dark brown in this room. I love the browns; they are so warm and inviting.
I really like the DIY sinks like the first three. Who knew that old pots, pans, and pails would make such adorable sinks? I also enjoy the look of the cabinets that are re-purposed dressers. I will have to find a way to mash the two styles together.
What do you think will look best? Give me your ideas and opinions in the comment section below.
Have a marvelous Monday!

Tata for now.

Victorian Era Master Bedroom

21 Jan

So, we all have that perfect image of what out dream bedroom will look like, right? That one that is so perfect with the matching furniture and everything just flows effortlessly together to create the perfect atmosphere? Well I hope we all do, it may take time but having the perfect bedroom is definitely attainable.

My perfect bedroom is purples creams and greens. We already have the carpet and paint, I’m doing two toned walls with a mauvish purple and dark cream, it will go on a beautifully textured wall. The carpet is a rich green and it all ties together wonderfully.

My room will have an old Victorian era theme when it comes to the furniture, which brings me to the highlight of this post, I found a gorgeous chair online in google images and now I must find out where I can purchase one like it.

Isn’t she a beauty? This chair will go stunningly with the chandelier I’m repairing. The two of them will look so cozy in my reading nook.

I can’t wait to get started on making my dream bedroom a reality, one step at a time.

Let me know what your thoughts are on making the perfect Victorian themed bedroom are.

Thanks for reading have a fantastic Wednesday.

What I’ve Been Up To In 2015

30 Dec

Good Morning everyone! I cant believe this year is almost over! I feel bad I haven’t been blogging as faithfully as I wanted to. The year 2015 seems to have just sped away without me even knowing it!
We have been slowly redoing our home, it was built in the 1970’s by my husbands dad; so there is a lot of sentimental value to this home so each room we redo has to be just perfect. We are working on making the Kitchen a vintage farm style with the apron sinks and old gas stove.
The living room will be a rustic lodge look and feel with a wooden slatted floor with big dark throw rugs. The centerpiece of the living room is a big brick open fire place.
The Master bedroom will be greens, browns, and purples. It will be the old Victorian style.
There are three other bed rooms. One is a dark green with creams and browns. One will be red and golds (Lord of the Rings theme) and the other hasn’t been determined.
I’m sharing this with you guys because I’ll be posting items I see on other websites that I want to purchase to put in each of the rooms.
Give me your input, what kind of items would you put in these rooms? Let me know in the comment section below!
That is it for now, talk again soon! 🙂
